Netty 4.0.29.Final released

I'm happy to announce the release of Netty 4.0.29.Final,

This release contains 55+ changes, including bug-fixes, improvements and new features.

If you use Netty with OpenSSL (OpenSslEngine) you should upgrade ASAP as this release fixes a bug that could produce errors in OpenSslEngine's that are used by the same EventLoop that others that encountered errors. This means previous to this release it was possible to have OpenSslEngine report errors that not actual belong to it self, but to other instances of OpenSslEngine that just use the same EventLoop.

The most important changes are:

  • Correctly handle errors when using OpenSSL (#3893)
  • Use 2 * cores as default minimum for pool arenas (#3891)
  • Not skip first cert when using OpenSslClientContext (#3658)
  • Guard against race when calling SslHandler.handshakeFuture().sync() (#3611)
  • Respect EPOLLERR event (#3611)
  • fixing small leak on exception on the transport-epoll-native allocation (#3844)
  • Synchronize on PoolSubpage head when allocate / free PoolSubpages (#3834)
  • Let PoolThreadCache work even if allocation and deallocation Thread are different (#3833)
  • Correctly handle connection refused with native transport (#3832)
  • Backport codec-haproxy (#3828)
  • No need to hold lock while destroy a chunk (#3827)
  • Do not try to init TrustManagerFactory if trustCertChainFile is null (#3821)
  • Expose metrics for PooledByteBufAllocator (#3802)
  • Support hostname verification when using OpenSSLEngine (#3794 #3784)
